Self Insertion

The photo that I used to for the self insertion was taken on a vacation trip in Jamaica. The photo was taken mid day and the sun is directly above me. I decided to use the photo I did because of my position. The selection was easy to make and looked realistic enough to be put into another photo. The photo I chose to be my insertion piece in a photo taken from the internet and just shows a long staircase leading towards a beach at sunset. I have always wanted to be at the beach all day and finally wait to leave until the sun went down and this assignment, sort of, allowed me to do that. I took the selection of myself and darkened the photo altogether. Darkening the photo allowed it to mesh into insertion photo better. I then attempted to take away some of the shadows of the sun casting directly over me. In attempt to do that, I made my selection look more involved.

Vector Illustration

This vector illustration is a self portrait. I took a couple of different photos, with different lighting settings, and this one was the most difficult. Usually when creating digital images, I tend to choose the simplest image with the least amount of extra work needed. For this assignment however, I decided to challenge myself and really see if I could pull it off. With many hours spent in front of a computer, coffee in my hand while a drawing tablet tool in the other, I finished the assignment. The colors used are all relative towards the actual photo besides the background. I wanted the background to be of a different texture since the vector shapes itself were so soft and curvy. The brick/box background makes the body look more natural and dynamic.

Exquisite Corpse-Legit Mermaid

This vector illustration was created by a drawing done three ways. A piece of paper was passed around a class room and people drew sections of the body. There are three distinct parts to this mermaid: a head, a torso, and a tail. When creating this vector illustration, I wanted to have the background be realistic and simple. I wanted most of the attention to be on the mermaid.
